FAQs

General

Q: Is this web site secure?

Google checkout is considered to be a secure service. Your credit card data is encrypted (turned into a secret code) to ensure that your data is safe.

Q: Do I need a Google account to register?

Lincoln PTA uses Google checkout to process payments and Google checkout requires a Google account. Creating a Google account for checkout is very simple.

Q: Why do I need to register for everything online?

Managing PTA programs online frees staff, teachers and parent volunteers from the tedious and time-consuming processes of managing manual forms, cash and checks. Not to mention the fact that we’re saving trees. Remember, many Lincoln parent volunteers work full time and ALL parents are busy. The time we save on these processes will save us all time that can be spent on more valuable endeavors.

Q: How can my child participate if I don’t use online services?

We will do everything we can to facilitate your participation. Please contact PTA President Vidya Sinha at vsinha@lincoln-pta.org.

About the PTA

Q: What is the purpose of the PTA?

The overall purpose of the PTA is to promote the welfare of children by building a stronger connection between parents and teachers. The Lincoln PTA goals include:

  • Building connections focused on enhancing the school experience for all Lincoln students and their parents
  • Supporting Lincoln connections through Lincoln PTA events
  • Building better connections with teachers by soliciting their input on current and prospective PTA programs
  • Building stronger connections with parents by sponsoring guest speakers who provide new perspectives on education and parenting
  • Making online connections that save our parents, teachers and staff time and paper, by automating many of the old processes (student attendance confirmation, directory, Yearbook ordering, Walkathon, etc.)
  • Encouraging new connections through volunteer opportunities.

Q: Which programs are funded by the Lincoln PTA?

Your membership amount of $20 per household supports our kids in many ways including:
Welcome Coffee, Scholarships, Student Council, instructional supplies, MESH folders, Reading Garden, Online Lincoln School Directory, Student Assemblies (guest author events), Red Ribbon Week, Running Program, the Reflection Contest/Program, and University Day. At the state and national level, your membership adjoins your voice with millions of others making the case for education and children.

Dues sent to upper level PTA cover costs for lobbying and public awareness campaigns to children's interests at both state and national levels

Less than 6% is spent to cover administrative costs such as tax preparation, insurance, web site maintenance, etc.

Directory and Yearbook Orders

Q: How do I get my directory?

This year online pdf copies of the directory will be available in October to all PTA members.

Q: How do I order a Yearbook?

Yearbooks can be ordered at the PTA website www.lincoln-PTA.org/spot.

Q: Will the Yearbook be electronic or will it be printed like last year’s?

The Yearbooks will be printed, glossy, bound books similar in style to the Lincoln Yearbooks from the last several years.

Lincoln Volunteering

Q: How can I get more involved?

To become more involved you can view Lincoln volunteer opportunities here or ask your child’s teacher how you can help.

Q: How much time should families plan to volunteer?

This year we’re challenging all Lincoln parents to pledge a minimum of two volunteer hours per Lincoln student each month (or a total of 10 hours served at any time throughout the year). There are a variety of volunteer opportunities from grading papers at home to designing web pages, or helping in the classroom, organizing events, assisting with the book fair or chaperoning a class field trip.

Volunteering provides an opportunity to be an active participant in your child’s school and make a difference in the Lincoln Community.

Q: Whom can I contact if I have other questions?

Please contact PTA President Vidya Sinha at vsinha@lincoln-pta.org.
