Read-A-Thon

Support our Reading Leopards! What is a Read-A-Thon?

Welcome to Lincoln’s Reading Adventures which is also our read-a-thon event! This fundraiser is a school-wide event to celebrate reading, to foster healthy reading habits and to fundraise for our school. We spotlight the power of reading for 12 adventurous days by providing an opportunity for students and their families to focus on books and reading together.

When do students begin and end logging reading time?

Students may log minutes from Monday, January 23rd through 8pm of Friday, February 3rd.

READING GOAL

Our school-wide 2023 reading goal is 250,000 minutes. There will be a school prize if school reaches this goal!

FUNDRAISING GOAL

Help us meet our Read-A-Thon goal of $40,000! The money raised will help maintain all the PTA-supported programs such as Back to School night, Ice Cream Social, Lincoln Pumpkin Patch, Project Cornerstone, Book Fair, movie night, field trip buses or admissions and much more. Please consider donating on behalf of your child and inviting family members and friends to donate as well. We hope that every student can raise $75 from their sponsors. Sponsors can include neighbors, grandparents, parent’s Facebook friends, dentists, piano teachers.

For Other Frequently Asked Questions

What reading counts? Does reading to my child count as well?

Yes, ALL reading counts, including being read to by another student or an adult. If one student reads to another student, they both get the minutes. Books, e-books, picture books, textbooks, graphic novels, magazines and newspapers all count towards minutes. Audio books do not count.

Do students have to record their minutes every day?

Why not?! Students can build up their minutes whenever they can, and daily log just help them keep track of it and encourage them to read more. Teachers will be able to log class reading time to the platform and students can add that total minutes by logging minutes at home.
